Großokrilla is part of the Ottendorf-Okrilla district in the municipality of the same name in the Bautzen district in Saxony .

geography

Großokrilla is located in the district of the same name in the northeast of the municipality of Ottendorf-Okrilla north of Dresden . Neighboring places are the Ottendorf-Okrillaer districts of Kleinokrilla in the west, Moritzdorf in the north and Ottendorf in the east and south. The Großokrillaer village center is on the 97 federal road at the confluence of the Orla and the Kleine Röder . At the Ottendorf-Okrilla stop, Großokrilla has a connection to the Dresden-Straßgräbchen-Bernsdorf railway line .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1453 as "the Okryll". The place name is of Old Sorbian origin and is derived from * okrugla ("round", "circular", see Okrug for "circle"). It means "settlement on / at the rounding". In 1528 "the Kretzschmar zu Ottendorf, called the Okrull" appears in a document. It can therefore be assumed that originally only the Ottendorfer Kretscham or its operator was called that. In the following centuries, the spellings “on the Akrel”, “Okruel”, “zur Ockrill”, “Hockrill” and “Ocrilla” were guaranteed. In the 17th century, the distinction between "Large Ockrilla" or "Large Ockrylla" and the neighboring Kleinokrilla began.

Großokrilla consisted of rows of houses arranged like a village square with a 47 hectare block corridor . It was parish in nearby Ottendorf. The administration of the official village was the responsibility of the Laußnitz office . In 1856 Großokrilla then belonged to the Radeberg court office and then came to the Dresden administrative authority , from which the Dresden-Land district emerged . On the basis of the rural community order of 1838 , Großokrilla gained its independence as a rural community . Großokrilla united with Ottendorf-Moritzdorf on July 1, 1921 to form the municipality of Ottendorf-Okrilla. After the dissolution of the Dresden-Land district, the community came to the Kamenz district , which in turn was incorporated into the Bautzen district in 2008.
