Neighboring places are the Ottendorf-Okrillaer districts Moritzdorf in the north, Großokrilla in the west and Diensdorf and Grünberg in the south. Neighboring to the east is the Wachau district of Lomnitz . The Ottendorf village center is located along Radeberger Strasse on the Orla . A large industrial park extends south of it. At the Ottendorf-Okrilla stop, Ottendorf has a connection to the Dresden-Klotzsche-Straßgräbchen-Bernsdorf railway line .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1357 as "Ottindorf". The place name is of Middle High German origin, derives from the locator name Otto and thus means "village of an Otto". In the following centuries, among other things, the spelling “Ottendorff” is guaranteed. In 1875 the place was called “Ottendorf b. Radeberg ”to differentiate between places with the same name, of which there are seven in Saxony alone (especially in the Dresden area).

Ottendorf emerged as a Waldhufendorf , whose corridor in 1871 comprised about 642 hectares. As early as 1500 there was a parish church in the village, where villages in the area were also parish. The manorial rule was exercised by the owners of the manor in nearby Seifersdorf . The administration was mostly incumbent on the Dresden office , in the meantime also the Radeberg office . In 1856 Ottendorf then belonged to the Radeberg court office and then came to the Dresden administrative authority , from which the Dresden-Land district emerged . On the basis of the rural community code of 1838 , Ottendorf gained its independence as a rural community . Ottendorf merged with Moritzdorf in 1911 to form the municipality of Ottendorf-Moritzdorf, which was joined by Cunnersdorf in 1920 and Kleinokrilla on April 1, 1921 . After the union with Großokrilla on July 1, 1921, the community was called Ottendorf-Okrilla. With the dissolution of the Dresden-Land district, the municipality became part of the Kamenz district , which in turn became part of the Bautzen district in 2008.
