Saßmicke is a district of the North Rhine-Westphalian district town of Olpe with 602 inhabitants.

Saßmicke is just 3.5 km south of the Olper town center and is passed east of the Bigge . It is located around 1.1 km north of the Olpe-Süd motorway junction , where the A 4 and A 45 intersect; the latter leads past the village immediately to the east.

history

Saßmicke was first mentioned in documents in 1409, when the Sassenbicke estate was donated to the Church of Olpe.

Taking into account the fact that the place was the last (Lower) Saxon settlement to the Franconian, the connection of the basic word "-bicke" with the preceding word part "Sassen-" suggests the interpretation of the place name as "Saxony - Bach" on.

Early clues about the size of the place can be found in an appraisal register (used to collect taxes) for the year 1543. Accordingly, there were 18 appraisers in “Syßmicken”; this number could have coincided with the farms or houses existing at the time.
