history

Because the "old village" was demolished during the construction of Lake Bigge, it had to be rebuilt at its current location. The old village was on what was then the banks of the Bigge River. The name can also be derived from this: Stade is reminiscent of Gestade = bank. This Stade was first mentioned in a document in 1445.
