history

The name Rhonard means cleared hard (cleared mountain forest). In 1383 Rhonard was first mentioned in a document because the community of Helden recorded income from a mill in Rodenhart . Many of the old farms are built in half-timbered style, such as the St. Josef chapel from 1842/45 and the old bakery. There is also a village pond. Mining on the Rhonarderzug was important in the early modern period .
