Rüblinghausen is a district of the North Rhine-Westphalian district town of Olpe . It has about 1000 inhabitants.

geography

Rüblinghausen is located southwest of Olpe, on the western bank of the Bigge . The federal motorway 45 leads past the village to the west .

The old town center can only be found around the Matthäuskapelle, as Olpe and Rüblinghausen have grown together.

history

Rüblinghausen was first mentioned around 1422 under the name Rubbelkusen . It is made up of a personal name - possibly Rubilo or Hriubilo - and -inghausen and describes a "settlement of the people of Rubilo / Hriubilo".

Early clues about the size of the place emerge from an appraisal register (used to collect taxes) for the year 1543. According to this, there were 17 appraisers in “Ribbelinghaußen”; this number could have coincided with the farms or houses existing at the time. The frequency of the name "Zum Rosenthal" is noticeable in the register; Hanß, Clemenß and Jacob Zum Rosenthal pay the highest taxes.

The Rüblinghauser Hütte existed between the 1830s and the 1860s

The former pilgrimage chapel is well worth seeing .
