Neuenwald is a district of the district town of Olpe in the Sauerland with 22 inhabitants.

geography

The place is north of Olpe immediately below the B 55 .

history

The so-called Römerweg led over the Griesemert , which , coming from Olpe , led to the territory of the Bilstein office at the time .

At what is now Neuenwald there was a customs station at one stroke, which cordoned off the Römerweg. The visible walls and ditches still bear witness to this demarcation, which, coming from the Fahlenscheider Höfe, led along the Rehringhauser mountains to the "new forest" and further parallel to the "Römerweg" (about today's B55) over the Elspat towards Neger . After the construction of the Provinzialstraße (around 1830), which was built a bit next to the old route, there was a “Schossenwärter” (road warden) house in “Neuenwald”. In order to finance the road, the carters had to set up the road toll.

Today, Neuenwald, located on Bundesstraße 55, consists of five residential buildings.
