from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann Nikolaus Düringer (born April 20, 1700 in Großwenkheim near Bad Neustadt an der Franconian Saale , † December 29, 1756 in Rüblinghausen) was a baroque sculptor . His works are part of the furnishings of many churches and chapels in the southern Sauerland and Siegerland . Well-known works are the altars in the Kreuzkapelle and the Matthäuskapelle in Olpe . He settled in Rüblinghausen in 1730 , where he worked until his death in 1756.

The town of Olpe, to which the town of Rüblinghausen belongs today, has honored the artist twice: on the one hand, a primary school bears the name "Düringerschule", on the other hand the Düringerstrasse was named after Johann Nikolaus Düringer. A plaque on the site of his former home indicates the artist.
