Bochum-Süd is one of six districts in Bochum . The city district includes the districts of Wiemelhausen / Brenschede (with Wiemelhausen , Brenschede , Kirchviertel - but without the Ehrenfeld ), Stiepel (with Brockhausen , Haar and Schrick ), Querenburg (with Hustadt , Steinkuhl ).
As of December 31, 2015, a total of 50,253 people were registered on an area of 27.07 km².
The Bochum-Süd district council has 19 seats, which in 2014 were given to representatives of the SPD, CDU, Die Grünen, FDP, Linke, AfD and one non-attached member. District mayor is Helmut Breitkopf (SPD).
