Location of Russee in Kiel
|
Russee is a district of Kiel .
history
Russee was first mentioned in 1233 under the name Rutse . Rutse later became Rusce = "lake with rushes" (from Low German Rusch ) and then Russee. In the year 1850 the old village had four Vollhufen as well as twenty-five Katen and Instenstellen . Individual buildings from this period are still preserved. Thereafter, the district became a municipality in the Bordesholm district, which was dissolved in 1932, and its communities were divided into the districts of Plön, Rendsburg and Segeberg. On April 26, 1970 Russee was incorporated into Kiel from the Rendsburg district. The Kiel city area grew by 444 hectares and 2,609 inhabitants. Even before the incorporation, individual small settlements had been created (Russeer Weg, Redderkamp). In 1980 a settlement followed with uniform row and garden courtyard houses. The further development was subsequently carried out by a community of Wobau , BIG Heimbau , Frank Heimbau and Wankendorfer Baugenossenschaft . The streets were named after districts and waters in and around Berlin, see also the list of streets and squares in Kiel . That is why the settlement was sometimes referred to as the “Berlin Quarter”. The resulting residential area is characterized by quiet, elongated streets as well as red tiles and roofs throughout.
