Ravensberg is a district of the Schleswig-Holstein state capital Kiel with the zip code 24118. It covers an area of ​​301.4 hectares and has 11,581 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2010). In the area of ​​the Ravensberg district, under the name of "Bremerskamp", a new district with student apartments will be created over the next few years.

District boundaries

The Ravensberg district is the area that is in the south of Eckernförde Strasse and Gutenbergstrasse, in the east of Knooper Weg and Holtenauer Strasse, in the north of Paul-Fuß-Strasse, Westring and Bundesstrasse 76 , and in the west of Bremerskamp and simplifying a straight line from the intersection of Johann-Fleck-Strasse and Bremerskamp to the intersection of Kopperpahler Teich and Eckernförder Strasse, as well as Eckernförder Strasse. The vacated area between Johann-Fleck-Straße and Eckernförder Straße already belongs to the municipality of Kronshagen .

It is bordered by the Kiel-Wik district in the north, the municipality of Kronshagen in the west, the Schreventeich district in the south and the Brunswik and Blücherplatz districts in the east .

Naming

Originally the name of a corridor in the former Brunswiker Feldmark was Ravensberg, which probably derives its name from the small hill on which the water tower stands. Today this hill is also called Ravensberg .
