Kiel-Pries ( Danish : Pris ) is a district in the north of Kiel . The district of Friedrichsort adjoining Pries in the southeast is often mentioned together with Pries (Pries-Friedrichsort).

history

Pries is first mentioned in 1500 and was probably founded by Slavic settlers. When the Seekamp estate was built in 1575 , the village of Pries, with 10 Hufnern and 2 Wurtsadten at that time, also belonged to it. At that time its area was around 450 hectares. In 1631, 132 hectares of previously agricultural land were separated from Pries and converted to Festungsland, which later became the land of the Friedrichsort district . In 1741 109 serfs and 22 free persons lived in Pries, 91 hectares of land were in private hands, the other 234 hectares of land formed common seed and hay land that was subject to the flood constraint. The fields were primarily tilled with rye, oats and buckwheat. In 1791 serfdom was lifted and Pries became the free farming village of Pries, but still part of the Seekamp estate. The land was redistributed at this point in time: the five full hooves were given 43 hectares each and the four half hooves 22 ha each. From 1791 to 1873 an annual fee, Canon, had to be paid to the landowner for the newly received land.

The Seekamp manor district belonged to the Danish welfare district until 1853 , to Eckernförde Harde from 1853 to 1867 , these administrative units belonged to the Hütten (Schleswig) office until 1867 , and from 1867 to the Eckernförde district . In 1876 the manor district was abolished and Pries became a free rural community with self-administration and an elected community leader, about 471 hectares in size with 532 inhabitants. In 1885 the population was 548, in 1895 it was 1024, 1900 1378, 1905 2291, 1910 2918, 1919 3798. In February 1922, Pries became a Kiel district with around 3860 inhabitants in the same size. A short time later, the border to the Holtenau district was redrawn, so that the area was reduced to 336 hectares. In 1976 the population was 9,431. The farming village of Pries never went under, it still exists today to the northwest of the urban part of Pries.

From 1871 Pries and Friedrichsort grew together. The originally Dänischenhagen belonging parish Pries, was in the 1905 Siegmund Carl Lensches "Hülfsgeistlicher" and later Pastor, built in 1910 its own cemetery and in 1911 its own church. Since 1959 this has been called "To the Good Shepherd". Pastor Lensch was also the founder of the owner-occupied home association and Lenschstrasse has been a reminder of him since 1925. When the Second World War broke out, the Pries volunteer fire brigade was disbanded because the personnel were needed for the war effort. Since then there has been no volunteer fire brigade in Pries . Today the Schilksee volunteer fire brigade is responsible for all parts of the city north of the canal, including Pries.

In 1966 the first continuous express bus 14 S was set up from the Kiel ZOB to Pries / Friedrichsort. The initial surcharge of 30 pfennigs was abolished in 1977.

Limits

Today's border between Pries and Friedrichsort is the Klünderwiesenau in the west; it runs north of the Friedrichsort community school , touches Steenbarg street and runs through Waldemar-Bonsels-Straße and Hecktstraße. It continues to the intersection of Palisadenweg and Grüffkamp and then follows the Palisadenweg and the Falckensteiner Strand road to the intersection of Falckensteiner Strand and Deichweg and then goes directly to the Kiel Fjord.

In the west, the Pries district borders the Klausdorf district of the Altenholz community , part of the Uhlenhorster Weg previously belonged to Altenholz and was re-districted in 1997 in exchange for parts from Kiel-Holtenau to Kiel-Pries. Farther south, Pries borders the Holtenau district in the west, the border today is the Neuwittenbek – Kiel Schusterkrug railway line , historically the Stekendammsau. In the north, Pries borders on Schilksee, the entire industrial area Redderkoppel / Koppelberg belongs to the Schilksee district, otherwise the border runs near the Koppelberg street.

The Kiel Fjord borders the district in the south and east .

Despite its name, the Pries secondary school was located in the neighboring district of Friedrichsort.

Pries / Friedrichsort district advisory council

Kiel is divided into 30 districts. In addition, there is a division into 18 local council districts, the boundaries of which are partly completely different from those of the city districts. Pries belongs to the local advisory council district 2 - Pries / Friedrichsort. It completely covers the area of ​​the districts of Pries and Friedrichsort, and the part of the district of Holtenau that lies northwest of Boelckestrasse and the Schusterkrug, as well as the part of Holtenau that lies between the street Schusterkrug and the military area south of it.
