The A 215 at the Kiel-West junction |
The Kiel-West motorway junction (abbreviation: AK Kiel-West ; short form: Kiel-West junction ) is a motorway junction in Kiel . It connects the federal highway 210 ( Rendsburg - Kiel) with the federal highway 215 (Kiel - Bordesholm ) and thus the state capital of Schleswig-Holstein with the federal highway 7 .
geography
The motorway junction is located in the city of Kiel, more precisely in the Russee district . Surrounding districts and communities are Kiel-Mettenhof , Melsdorf and Mielkendorf . It is located about 5 km west of Kiel city center , about 85 km north of Hamburg and about 25 km east of Rendsburg . Immediately to the north runs the Husum – Kiel railway line , which crosses the A 215 and passes under the Mettenhof feeder.
The Kiel-West motorway junction has junction number 7 on the A 210 and number 3 on the A 215.
Design and state of development
Both motorways and the Mettenhof feeder road have been expanded to four lanes. The connecting ramps from the A 210 to the south and vice versa and from the A 210 to Mettenhof are single-lane, the remaining ramps are two-lane.
The traffic structure was laid out as a variation of the clover leaf with a semi-direct ramp . This special design can be traced back to the location and the history of the building: the A 215 was built in 1972 for the Summer Olympics , while the A 210 was not built until the mid-1980s. So it turned out that the east-south relation was already continuous and the A 210 and the Mettenhof feeder still had to be connected to it. Considered individually, the connection of the A 210 with the Mettenhof slip road was laid out as an incomplete clover leaf, the connection of these two roads with the A 215 again as a complete triangle .
Traffic volume
The cross is used by an average of around 69,000 vehicles every day.
