history
The office was formed as Office Nortorf-Land on April 1, 1970 from the offices of Bargstedt, Borgdorf, Timmaspe and the two communities Emkendorf and Deutsch Nienhof of the dissolved Office Westensee and initially had 18 communities. On August 1, 1976, the municipality of Deutsch-Nienhof was dissolved at its own request and the northern districts of Wrohe, Josephinenhof and Krähenberg were incorporated into the municipality of Westensee ( Achterwehr district ), while the remaining districts of Pohlsee, Enkendorf and Blocksdorf were incorporated into Langwedel. On January 1, 1978, Holtdorf, the smallest municipality with around 100 inhabitants, was incorporated into Bargstedt.
In the course of the administrative structural reform in Schleswig-Holstein, the city of Nortorf joined the office on January 1, 2007 and it was renamed to Nortorfer Land .

coat of arms
The coat of arms was approved on February 23, 1973.
Blazon : "In gold, a torn, cut-off, leafy green oak trunk with eighteen root ends, accompanied on the right by two inward-turned blue carp on top of each other, on the left by a blue eagle's wing."
The district of Nortorf-Land, which was formed in the course of the regional reform of 1970, still has a distinctly rural character and is characterized by a particular wealth of forests. The figure of the oak trunk refers to this, which with the multitude of roots simultaneously represents the originally eighteen, now sixteen municipalities belonging to the office: Bargstedt, Bokel, Borgdorf-Seedorf, Brammer, Dätgen, Eisendorf, Ellerdorf, Emkendorf, Gnutz, Groß Vollstedt, Krogaspe, Langwedel, Oldenhütten, Schülp near Nortorf, Timmaspe, Warder. The two carp represent the economic importance of fish farming. The eagle wing is borrowed from the coat of arms of the von Lüttwitz-Heinrich family, who have owned the Emkendorf estate since 1926. Emkendorf is still the cultural center of attraction in the administrative area today. The manor house and estate Emkendorf on the Westensee lived its heyday under Julia and Fritz Reventlow. Inspired by them, the "Emkendorfer Kreis" was formed, which had a major influence on the culture of the duchies around 1800. On January 1, 2007, the city of Nortorf joined the office, which has been renamed "Office Nortorfer Land".
The coat of arms was designed by the Brunsbüttel heraldist Willy "Horsa" Lippert .
flag
The flag was approved on August 2, 1984.
The figures of the official coat of arms (without shield) are shown on a yellow flag cloth bordered by a green border at the top and bottom.
