Stephan Schlegel (born May 21, 1969 in Altenholz ) is a former German handball player . He is currently working as a handball trainer.
Career
Player career
Schlegel began playing handball at TSV Altenholz in 1977 . With the C-youth of TSV Altenholz he won the German championship in 1984. Between 1987 and 1990, the back player played at VfL Bad Schwartau , with whose men's team he played in the 2nd Bundesliga . In the 1990/91 season Schlegel was under contract with Bundesliga club TSV Milbertshofen , with whom he won the European Cup Winners' Cup . The two following seasons he belonged to the squad of the second division GWD Minden .
Schlegel returned to Bundesliga club VfL Bad Schwartau in 1993. In 1996 he went into the second class with Schwartau. After Schlegel was promoted to the Bundesliga with VfL in 1998, he moved to the club's second team. Between 2000 and 2007 he played for the regional league team ATSV Stockelsdorf . In the second half of the 2007/08 season he ran three times for the upper division Ahrensburger TSV . In the 2009/10 season he played four second division games for VfL Bad Schwartau.
Coaching career
Stephan Schlegel worked as a youth coach during his playing career at VfL Bad Schwartau and ATSV Stockelsdorf. He also trained the men's team of ATSV Stockelsdorf for a short period of time. In the summer of 2007, the B license holder took over the TSV Travemünde women's team , which competed in the 2nd Bundesliga . In December 2007 he ended his coaching activity in Travemünde. Schlegel later worked for a year and a half at VfL Bad Schwartau as an assistant coach for the men's team. Then he trained again for youth teams at VfL. In the summer of 2018 he took over the second men's team from VfL, which competes in the major league. Schlegel trained at HSG Ostsee N / G from July 2019 , but he had to quit this activity in September 2019 for personal reasons.
