The handball community Ostsee Neustadt / Grömitz (HSG Ostsee N / G) is a handball community from the East Holstein communities of Neustadt in Holstein and Grömitz , which was founded in 2014. The first men's team rose to the third division as champions of the Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein Oberliga 2017/18 .

history

The syndicate was founded in 2014 by the clubs TSV Grömitz and TSV Neustadt in Holstein . Both clubs belonged to the highest divisions of the HVSH for decades, especially in the senior division , with national successes being recorded in Grömitz (which failed to rise to the field handball league in 1969 ) and in Neustadt (German C youth runner-up 1987).

After the establishment of the syndicate, the first men's team under coach Thomas Knorr rose from the Landesliga Süd to the fifth-class Schleswig-Holstein League in 2014/15 and made it to the Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein Oberliga in the following season. After the Ostholsteiner landed there in the 2016/17 season in second place behind the HG Hamburg-Barmbek , a year later they won the championship and the associated promotion to the 3rd division. In the same year, the HSG took part in the DHB Amateur Cup for the first time and was eliminated in the semi-finals after extra time against the second team of HC Elbflorenz . When the 2019/20 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the HSG Ostsee took last place, but the team did not relegate due to an association decision .
