The handball community Hamburg-Barmbek is a game community of the handball departments of various sports clubs from Hamburg . In the 2017/18 season, the men's team competed in the 3rd division .

history

The HG Hamburg-Barmbek, which initially still bore the name SG BU / Urania, was created in 1984 through the merger of the handball departments of HSV Barmbek-Uhlenhorst and SC Urania Hamburg . Later the handball departments of USC Paloma Hamburg and VfL 93 Hamburg joined the handball community. The men's team won the Hamburg Championship in 2007, 2012 and 2014 and the Hamburg Cup in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. In the 2014/15 season , the HGHB took part in the DHB Cup . In the first main round, the team was eliminated against third division club TSV Altenholz . Furthermore, the Handball Community took in 2016 and 2017 at the DHB Amateur Cup in part. The men over 40 (seniors) won the Hamburg Seniors Championship in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019 and the Hamburg Cup for Seniors in 2018 and 2019.

In the 2016/17 season, the men's team won the championship of the Hamburg-Schleswig-Holstein Handball Oberliga and was promoted to the 3rd division.

In the 2018/19 season, Barmbek returned to the league. HG Hamburg-Barmbek won the championship and successfully prevailed in the relegation game for promotion to the 3rd division against the Stralsund HV .
