IG Kultur Burgenland is the cultural-political interest group and umbrella organization of Burgenland cultural initiatives.

history

The IG Kultur Burgenland - interest group for independent cultural initiatives was founded in March 1995 with headquarters in Großwarasdorf and extends its activities to the entire area of Burgenland.

In 1996, the basic conditions for the work of 19 art and cultural initiatives in Burgenland were determined in a basic data collection by IG Kultur Burgenland as the basis for future association work.

In the years from 1995 to 2010, the association tended to be run passively; no events were organized and no state funding for projects was applied for. Due to the new elections in June 2010 and the associated newly founded board consisting of Gerhard Krammer, Andreas Lehner, Alfred Masal, Christa Prets and Lena Röth , the club life became more active again. Among other things, a panel discussion on the situation of independent theaters in Austria, organized by IG Kultur Burgenland, took place in cooperation with the IG Freie Theater in the Offenes Haus Oberwart (OHO) cultural center.

A short time later the organization of the exhibition "Perspektiven - Junge Kunst im Burgenland" followed, in which the IG Kultur Burgenland together with Alfred Masal, the managing director of the OHO ( Open House Oberwart ), presented a diverse and medially complex range of young Burgenland art.

After no new board was found in 2011, the association had to be dissolved in December 2011. On March 21, 2017, it was re-established in the FKK Pöttsching cultural association. The association is based in Neudörfl .

The current chairman of the association is Udo Preis (Kulturverein Limmitationes in Deutsch-Minihof), vice chairwoman Bärbl Gross (Limmitationes), secretary Günter Schütter (Kukuk Bildein) and Herta Schuster (Die Erbse) is the treasurer. Lena Röth (former country representative for IG Kultur Burgenland) headed the office from December 2016 to January 2018.

From 25th to 26th October 2017 in Heiligenkreuz in Lafnitztal a symposium with the title "WE ARE CULTURE!" Was organized by IG Kultur Burgenland, in cooperation with the member association Limmitationes. instead of. 19 cultural workers from four different countries met there and worked out the future goals of the association at regional and international level in a workshop moderated by Robert Lukesch.
