Konfrontationen is a music festival for jazz and new improvisation music that has been organized by the Jazz Gallery in Nickelsdorf in Burgenland since 1980 .

History of the festival

As early as November 1976, the then 22-year-old Hans Falb began to organize concerts in his parents' inn in Nickelsdorf, which he had just taken over. This was initially intended to be the home of all types of jazz, but in the late 1970s it developed into a center of avant-garde jazz and improvised music with an international reputation. The forerunners of the Konfrontationen festival from September 1978 onwards were the Avant Jazz Days . The festival has been held in Nickelsdorf near the Hungarian border since 1980; In addition to film screenings, art exhibitions, plays and readings, there are regular concerts there in July / August. So in the first year u. a. Jimmy Lyons , Oliver Lake , John Lindberg , Glenn Spearman , Alexander von Schlippenbach and Sunny Murray .
