Sharif Sehnaoui

Sharif Sehnaoui (* 1976 in Beirut ) is a Lebanese improvisation musician ( guitar , also drums ).

Sharif Sehnaoui comes from Beirut and first learned the piano as a child before turning to rock music and playing the guitar. He started his career in 1998 in Paris, where he played in various formations. Soon he was guesting in the United States and Europe-wide at festivals (such as the Nickelsdorfer Konfrontationen or the CTM Festival ). He devoted himself to free improvisation on the prepared electric and acoustic guitar. Together with Mazen Kerbaj , Sehnaoui is co-founder of the Irtijal experimental music festival , which has been held annually in Beirut since 2001 and is the only one of its kind in the Arab world. He initiated several CD sub- labels for experimental music on the affiliated label Al Maslakh . In Lebanon he played a. a. in the formations A Trio and BAO and experimented there with the percussive possibilities of the guitar. Sehnaoui has also performed with Michael Zerang and Eddie Prévost , Daunik Lazro , Jean-François Pauvros and Roger Turner .
