Michael Thieke

Michael Thieke (* 1971 in Düsseldorf ) is a German jazz clarinetist and alto saxophonist.

Thieke went to Berlin in 1993 , where he studied at the Hochschule der Künste with Denney Goodhew , Kirk Nurock and Jerry Granelli . During this time he performed with the Swiss clarinetist Gregor Hotz and the band Billy Bang 's BOBBI .

In 1999 he founded the band Nickendes Perlgras with Eric Schaefer and Michael Anderson , with whom he performed numerous concerts and recorded two albums. Further bands were founded: Dok Wallach (with Daniel Erdmann , Johannes Fink and Heinrich Köbberling ), TGW (with Michael Griener and Christian Weber ), hotel guests (with bassist Derek Shirley and guitarist Dave Bennett ), Rupp / Thieke / Jennessen (with Olaf Rupp and Uli Jenneßen ), Eric Schaefer Demontage (with Michael Anderson, Daniel Erdmann, Schaefer and Johannes Fink ). He led the Michael Thieke Unununium (with Luca Venitucci , Derek Shirley and Schaefer) and was a member of the clarinet duo The International Nothing with Kai Fagaschinski . He is also a member of Gebhard Ullmann's The Clarinet Trio and has released a CD with the band Schwimmer (with Alessandro Bosetti , Sabine Vogel and Michael Griener).

Since 1999 Thieke has also lived in Rome, where he works with musicians such as Luca Venitucci , Fabrizio Spera , Roberto Bellatalla , Antonio Borghini and Alberto Braida .
