Alberto Braida

Alberto Braida (born April 1, 1966 ) is an Italian jazz pianist and composer.

Braida had piano lessons from the age of seven and studied at the Piacenza Conservatory. Between 1989 and 1991 he attended jazz seminars in Siena. He then performed with musicians such as Alessandro Bosetti , Massimo Falascone , Wolfgang Fuchs , Thomas Lehn , Fabio Martini , Fabrizio Spera , Luca Venitucci and Gianfranco Tedeschi .

In 1995 he founded an improvisation trio with the double bass player Tito Mangialajo and the drummer Carlo Virzi . Since 1996 he has been working regularly with the clarinetist Giancarlo Locatelli . In 1997 he founded the Takla Improvising Group with other musicians, and the Takla Records label the following year .

In 1999 he composed with Locatelli and Fabio Martini Il viaggiatore insonne based on Italian poetry from the last fifty years. His composition Once It Was the Color of Saying is based on lyrics by Dylan Thomas .
