Sabine Vogel

Sabine Vogel (* 1971 in Munich ) is a German flautist who is active in the field of jazz, experimental and improvisational music.

Bird studied from 1993 to 1997 Jazz - flute at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz. She went to Berlin in 2000 and has lived in Potsdam since 2005. She deals intensively with modern playing techniques and extends the sound possibilities of her instrument through the use of special microphones and electronic aids such as motion controllers with which she controls programs for modifying the sound.

She has worked with musicians such as Arto Lindsay , Jim Denley , Tony Buck , Chris Abrahams , Axel Dörner , Andrea Neumann , Jack Wright and Chris Dahlgren , the Ensemble Zwischenentöne , the Walter Thompson Orchestra and the Anthony Braxton 12tet and belongs to the groups Schwimmer and phono_phono on. She participated in projects with visual artists, actors, dancers and contemporary composers such as Alex Nowitz , Malin Bång , Mattias Petersson and Shintaro Imai . She also appears as a soloist. Concerts and tours led her a. a. to Scandinavia, Italy and the USA.

Vogel has been teaching flute at the University of Potsdam since 2005 , and she has also given workshops at the State Conservatory of Tyrol in Innsbruck and the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin . In 2006, in collaboration with the Swedish composer Lise-Lotte Norelius, a commissioned work for the Usedom Music Festival was created . In 2007 she was artist in residence at the Elektronmusikstudion (EMS) in Stockholm. In 2011 she was Artist in Residence at the Steim in Amsterdam.
