Ute peoples
Ute Völker (* 1963 in Oberhausen ) is a German accordionist who specializes in new improvisation music .
Act
Völker first studied accordion and composition at the Cologne University of Music, Wuppertal Department and then musicology , German and phonetics at the universities of Cologne, Vienna and Paris. She also completed a degree in cultural management at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern .
Völker is a co-founder of the Partita Radicale ensemble for new and improvised music, whose work extends to the development of his own improvisation cycles, silent film settings, collaboration with composers and theater projects; With this formation she has released five albums since 1995, the most recent times are changing (2014). With Gunda Gottschalk and Peter Jacquemyn she formed the Trio Baggerboot (album of the same name in 2005 on Henceforth Records ). The album von grasses and clouds (2016) was created with Gottschalk and Mongolian singers . Völker has been a member of the Wuppertal Improvisation Orchestra WIO since 2007.
Völker lives in Wuppertal and appears regularly at international festivals for improvised music in Europe as a soloist or with various ad hoc line-ups. She has also given concerts in North America, Africa, China and South America. In addition, she works in interdisciplinary projects with visual artists, video filmmakers, dancers and actors. She also works as a music teacher at the Bochum Music School.
