CTM Festival

CTM Festival (formerly club transmediale ) is a festival for experimental and electronic music in Berlin. It was founded in 1999 as an accompanying event to the transmediale - festival for art and digital culture. Since then, CTM has developed into an independent festival and, as the festival for adventurous music and related arts, annually presents current trends in electronic and experimental music as well as artistic projects from the context of contemporary music culture.

Initially conceived as a festival for electronic music, CTM has been presenting all genres of experimental music since 2005. With several thousand visitors and a 6–13 day program that includes concerts, film screenings , workshops, installations and discussions, it is now the largest event of its kind in the German-speaking area.

CTM was founded by Jan Rohlf, Marc Weiser, Lillevän Pobjoy and Timm Ringewaldt. From 2000 to 2005 the organization team consisted of Jan Rohlf, Remco Schuurbiers, Oliver Baurhenn and Marc Weiser, who withdrew from the program design after 2005. The festival has been organized by the DISK - Initiative Bild und Ton eV association since 2005 .

CTM has a number of partnerships with international festivals including TodaysArt Festival (The Hague), Mutek (Montréal), Les Siestes Electroniques (Toulouse), Unsound (Krakow), Dis-Patch (Belgrade) and others. It is co-initiator of the international festival network ICAS - International Cities of Advanced Sound and ECAS - European Cities of Advanced Sound. The festival has received several project grants from the Capital Cultural Fund as well as the Federal Cultural Foundation and other funding institutions.

The CTM Festival (club transmediale) has changed venue several times. In 1999 it took place in the Berlin Club Maria am Ostbahnhof . In 2000 on an orphaned floor of the teacher's house on Alexanderplatz. In 2002 at E-Werk, one of the leading techno clubs in Berlin in the early 1990s. Since 2003 it was back in the meanwhile moved Maria am Ostbahnhof. In 2010 there was a move to the new venues WMF (evening events) and .HBC (daily program). Over the years, individual events have been outsourced to other venues (Volksbühne am Rosa Luxemburg Platz, Ballhaus Naunynstrasse, Kino Babylon and others). Since 2011 the festival has played in a large number of venues, including a. HAU, Berghain, Kunstraum Kreuzberg / Bethanien, Festsaal Kreuzberg, Passionskirche and others.
