Ingar Zach

Ingar Zach (born June 29, 1971 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian percussionist who has emerged in both jazz and new improvisational music.

Live and act

Zach first studied music at the University of Oslo (1993), then composition in the jazz program of the Trondheim Music Conservatory (1994–97). During this time he played in the folk big band Chateau Neuf Spelemannslag and in Harnihomba . Between 1997 and 2000 he worked with Håkon Kornstad and David Stackenäs in the trio Tri-Dim , with whom he recorded two albums. In 2000 he founded the label Sofa with guitarist Ivar Grydeland and formed the Huntsville Trio with him and Tonny Kluften , which released five albums by 2013. He can also be heard with Derek Bailey , Anders Hana and the trio No Spaghetti Edition . He was also part of Jon Balke's Magnetic North Orchestra , but also recorded with Karl Seglem , Carl Petter Opsahl, Philipp Wachsmann , Charlotte Hug and Jaap Blonk . With Ivar Grydeland, Xavier Charles and Christian Wallumrød he formed the group Dans les Arbres , which released two albums on ECM . He also worked with Kim Myhr and Jim Denley in the Ensemble Mural .
