Incus Records is an independent record label that specializes in freely improvised music . The publishing house, which was founded in London in 1970 by Evan Parker , Tony Oxley , Derek Bailey and financier Michael Walters , initially published records of the first generation of British free jazz - in addition to the sound carriers of the founders, also recordings of the improvisation meetings that Bailey started in 1976 under the name Company and works by Kenny Wheeler , Howard Riley , Steve Beresford , the Spontaneous Music Ensemble or AMM . The label was continued by Parker and Bailey until the mid-1980s. In the last years of Bailey's life, this Incus operated together with Karen Brookman. Improvisations by musicians such as John Zorn , Eugene Chadbourne , Mats Gustafsson , Jim O'Rourke , George E. Lewis and Bertram Turetzky have now been released on CD . The label has been on hold since Bailey's death in 2005, only to be continued from 2009 (now also with DVDs).
