The DHB Amateur Cup has been the most important German handball cup competition for amateur club teams since the 2014/15 season . It is held annually.

In addition to the ongoing games in the handball leagues, the cup competition is contested in the elimination process. The German Amateur Cup for men begins with 22 regional cup winners registered by the regional associations, who may belong to a maximum of one league (fourth-highest division) in the point game operation. These play the 16 teams for the first main round in geographically assigned qualification games. The DHB Amateur Cup is played in four consecutive knockout rounds, the last of which is the final. The DHB Amateur Cup finalists are entitled to participate in the DHB Cup for the following season .
