Count Eduard von Baudissin (born October 8, 1823 on Gut Knoop , Duchy of Holstein , † August 26, 1883 in Lübeck ) was a German manor owner and member of the Reichstag .

Life

He belonged to the noble family Baudissin , who originally came from Upper Lusatia and came to Schleswig-Holstein during the Thirty Years' War . His parents were Friedrich Carl von Baudissin (1786–1866) and Maria Therese von Mylius (* 1794).

Count Baudissin attended the school of scholars in Plön . After graduating from high school, he first studied at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . In 1843 he became active in the Corps Guestphalia Heidelberg . He switched to the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel , where he also joined the Corps Slesvico-Holsatia . Finally he went to the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin . After completing his studies, he served as prime lieutenant in the Schleswig-Holstein Army in the Schleswig-Holstein War . After the war he became a farmer and manor owner on Dreikronen near Friedrichsort . Count Baudissin married Josephine Maria Elisabeth Bruun von Neergaard (1832–1923) on May 8, 1856 . The marriage had son Otto August Hermann Joachim Graf von Baudissin (1864–1930) and Annie von Baudissin , who worked as a writer and teacher. From 1857 to 1863 he was a member of the Schleswig Estates Assembly .

In the mid-1870s he moved from his manor to Lübeck. He wrote for many German daily newspapers such as the Frankfurter Zeitung .

From 1867 to 1871 he sat in the Reichstag (North German Confederation) . He belonged to the faction of the federal constitutional association . In this capacity he was also a member of the Customs Parliament since 1868 . From 1871 to 1874 he was a member of the Reichstag (German Empire) , in which he remained non-attached. In each election he represented constituency 3 Schleswig-Holstein ( Eckernförde - Schleswig ).
