Eduard Alberti

Eduard Christian Scharlau Alberti (born March 11, 1827 in Friedrichstadt , † February 28, 1898 in Voorde ) was a German literary historian and philosopher .

Life

Eduard Alberti was a son of the middle police officer Eduard Alberti (1827-1859) and his wife Maria, née Haucke (* 1783) from Fredericia . His brother Leopold David Scharlau Alberti was a well-known theologian and writer.

Eduard Christian Scharlau Alberti, born on March 11, 1827, received his preparatory training at schools in his home town of Friedrichstadt. In 1844 he began to learn printing , which he completed at Easter 1848. Then he entered the upper level of the Husum school of scholars . In 1850 he began studying classical philology at the University of Kiel . He successfully passed his school examinations at Easter 1854.

Then Alberti was as to 1856 tutor in Schwansen worked, received his doctorate in July 1856 for doctor of philosophy and the following year, held in Copenhagen on. In autumn he became a private lecturer at the University of Kiel. At the same time he was hired as a laborer at the university library. In 1868 he was promoted to research associate .

1893 again promoted, this time to the professor , he entered on April 1 of the following year in retirement . He lived this in Voorde, where he died on February 28, 1898 at the age of 70.

Alberti worked on a new edition of the lexicon of Schleswig-Holstein-Lauenburg and Eutinian writers and worked for the General German Biography , to which he contributed 20 articles. In addition, he had also worked as a writer and poet .
