origin

Baudissin came from the Projensdorfer branch of the noble family von Baudissin , which originally came from Upper Lusatia and had come to Schleswig-Holstein during the Thirty Years' War. His parents were Count Joseph Franz Christian von Baudissin (born January 9, 1797 - † April 5, 1871) and his wife, Countess Julia Friederike Josephina von Reventlow (* August 21, 1798 - † July 3, 1881).

He entered the Schleswig-Holstein administrative service and in 1849 became a travel agent in the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of the Interior. In 1851 he moved to the highest civil authority and in October 1852 became an auscultant at the Holstein upper dicasteries in Glückstadt . Here he later became a senior judge.

In the course of the German-Danish war , the federal commissioners appointed him to the Holstein government that was constituted on January 18, 1864. On January 14, 1865 he was appointed Landdrost of the lordship of Pinneberg after the Landdrost Ludwig Nicolaus von Scheele had been deposed. He held this office until April 1867 and then retired when the Pinneberg district was newly formed as a Prussian district. The first district administrator of the new district was Adolf von Moltke on April 9, 1868 . Baudissin was transferred to Stettin as a Prussian government councilor in 1868 and was dismissed here at his request in 1872 when he became the owner of the Borstel estate due to the death of his father.

He was initially married to Rudolfine, born in 1851. von Ahlefeldt auf Saxtorf (1831–1855) and then with her sister Ida, geb. von Ahlefeldt (* December 20, 1838 in Saxtorf; † July 29, 1917 in Borstel).

He was often confused with his cousin of almost the same name and almost the same age, the writer Adelbert Heinrich von Baudissin .
