Friedrich Krell

Friedrich Krell (born July 13, 1928 in Wiesbaden ) is a German choir teacher and conductor .

Life

Friedrich Krell studied music and chemistry as a teacher from 1947 to 1951 at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg . He then became a senior teacher in Wernigerode . In 1951 Krell founded a mixed choir, which later became the Wernigerode Radio Youth Choir , of which he was artistic director for 45 years.

In 1970 he received his doctorate in Hall with the thesis for the interpretation and reception of Italian secular polyphonic vocal music of the 16th century to Dr. phil. , 1982 professorship

In 1991 he was appointed head of the State High School for Music in Wernigerode . In 1996 he retired, but remained a member of the State Music Council of Saxony-Anhalt. One week before his 80th birthday, he led the radio youth choir again on July 5, 2008 in an open-air concert on Berlin's Gendarmenmarkt .
