The North Rhine-Westphalia Choir Association (until April 22, 2007, North Rhine-Westphalia Singing Association, spelling: ChorVerband) is an association of choirs in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The Chorverband NRW eV is an association of more than 3,300 choirs with approx. 270,000 members. It is the largest regional association within the German Choir Association .

Just one year after the founding of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Rhenish Singers Association (founded in 1862), the Westphalian Provincial Singers Association (founded in 1908), the Westphalian Choir Association (founded in 1900) and the Lippe Singers Association (founded in 1875) joined forces . to the Singers Association of North Rhine-Westphalia eV. The official foundation day is March 8, 1947.

According to the latest survey, 113,000 singers are actively singing. They are supported by around 156,000 sponsoring members in the choirs. The approximately 3,300 choirs have come together regionally in 59 singing circles. The Singers Association of North Rhine-Westphalia eV is the largest cultural association in the country.

There are roughly equal numbers of women and men among the active population today. In the past 35 years, the number of women's choirs has increased fivefold compared to the proportion of all-male choirs. During the same period, the proportion of children's and youth choirs has quadrupled compared to the total number of members.

The organization of the Choir Association NRW eV is guaranteed by the federal board. From the president to the advisory board members, volunteer singers work here. They are supported by a full-time office. The seat of the Chorverband NRW eV is Dortmund .
