Saxon Choir Association

The Saxon Choir Association (SCV) is the umbrella organization for Saxon choirs. It is based in Frankenberg / Sa. .

history

The Saxon Choir Association was founded in November 2006 by several Saxon regional associations. It emerged from the Saxon Choir Association and replaced the choir association of Saxony that existed at the same time as the umbrella organization. With the establishment of an all-Saxon association, the fragmentation of the Saxon choral landscape since the political change in 1989 came to an end.

The Saxon Choir Association has been initiating the Advent singing of Saxon choirs in the Leipzig Gewandhaus annually since 1997 , regularly since the 1970s the Saxon Choir Conducting Seminar, the Moritzburg Choir Festival, the Wackerbarth Castle Choir Festival as well as community projects and singing festivals such as the "Day of the Song", which takes place several times a year in various Saxon Cities. The association also offers workshops and training courses for both choir directors and club boards.

The Saxon Choir Association represents the interests of its members towards the Saxon State Government, the Saxon Music Council , the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony and all other relevant authorities and institutions.

The Saxon Choir Youth is the youth organization in the Saxon Choir Association and is involved in the musical work of young people with children and young people; the members are active in the German Youth Choir .

The Saxon Choir Association publishes the association magazine Unisono every quarter .

Since 2008, the Saxon Choir Association has been the sponsor of the State Youth Choir of Saxony , which unites people between 16 and 30 years in a selected choir.
