Saarland Choir Association

The Saarländische Chorverband (SCV) is the Chorverband of Saarland and umbrella organization of about 400 choruses with about 10,000 singers. It is a member of the German Choir Association and has its seat in Saarbrücken .

The tasks include maintaining and promoting choral singing on the Saar. Competitions, festivals and concerts are held and choir directors, deputy choir directors and assistant choir directors are trained. Children and young people should receive special support, for example from the Saar Youth Choir .

In 1862 nine choral societies in the Saarbrücken area merged to form the Saar Singers Association. This only existed for a short time. In 1912, 23 clubs merged to form the committee of choral societies in Saarbrücken and the surrounding area . In 1920 Saarland Singers 'Association was chosen as the new name, and in 1922 it became the Saar Singers' Association with 145 member associations. Activities ceased during World War II.

In 1953 the Saar Singers Association was re-established with 228 member associations. In 2005 the new name Saarland Choir Association was introduced.
