Association of special houses

The Special Houses Association of Academic-Musical Associations (SV) is a corporation association of artistic , non-striking and non- colored , but colorful student associations in Germany and Austria . It currently has 22 active associations and 8 other Philistine associations.

The special houses association as a cultural association

The common basis of the SV connections is the musical principle, which is particularly cultivated by choirs , orchestras and theater performances . In addition, there are also other musical groups such as big bands or rock bands in the individual connections . Several times a year, the SV itself organizes various workshops and training weekends on the subject of choral and orchestral music, jazz , dance and theater.

Mixed groups have been among the member clubs of the SV since the 1970s , which means that they also accept female students (currently 17 of the 24 clubs combined in the SV are mixed, another club only accepts women). This means that today the Sondershäuser Association is the only nationwide organized cultural association for students, as there is no other student association at the federal level.

In cooperation with the Landesmusikakademie Thuringia in Sondershausen , the Sondershäuser Association has been offering a public series of seminars on the subject of "Cultural management in the musical - non-commercial sector" since November 2006, which takes place once a year. There has been regular cooperation with the city of Sondershausen since reunification, such as B. as part of the association festival of the Sondershäuser Association , which takes place every five years at Whitsun (most recently in 2017) and during which the SV organizes a large number of concerts and theater performances in the city of Sondershausen.

history

Coat of arms of the special houses association of academic-musical connections.

The oldest SV association is the Akademische Liedertafel (ALT) Berlin (today AMV Berlin ), which was founded in 1856. The year the SV was founded is 1867. In that year, a cartel agreement was signed between the Akademischer Gesangverein München and ALT Berlin. The name Sondershäuser Verband comes from the place Sondershausen , where the first cartel festival took place in 1894. In 1908 the Kartellag in Sondershausen passed a resolution on the alcohol issue, spoke out in favor of "vigorously combating academic drinking habits" and stated that there were no objections to the admission of anti-alcoholics.

In 1914, in addition to the musical principle, it was expressly stated that no color was worn. Compulsory grades were not required, but satisfaction demands and gifts were made possible for the members. In 1951 the Satisfaction was discarded, the association has not been successful since then.

In 1926, the decision was made to erect a memorial for the fallen SVer in Sondershausen .

The seizure of power by the National Socialists meant the temporary end of the SV connections and the SV.

After the Second World War , the SV revived. In 1949 the first representatives' day after the war was held in Heidelberg. In the 1950s the SV had 19 member associations with a total of around 900 members. The first association festival since the Second World War took place in 1957. For the 100th anniversary in 1967, the SV comprised 26 connections at 25 universities with a total of around 1,650 students.

On May 25, 2007, the Academic-Musical Women's Association Caecilia zu Hamburg (AMDV), founded in 2006, was accepted as the first all-female association in the Sondershäuser Association as part of the association festival.

Member connections

A total of 46 connections and cartel associations can be found in the history of the SV that were members of the SV. Of these, 23 are currently (as of April 1, 2018) still active in the association, and a further 8 fractions exist as Philistine associations. As recently as the 19th century, two associations left the association by leaving the association, five fraternities merged with others and have thus expired as independent leagues. 8 connections were extinguished due to a self-dissolution decision (5 of them before 1945), one connection was lost in the course of the liberation of Germany in 1945 and has not been reconstructed afterwards. After the First World War, a federal government relocated from Strasbourg to Freiburg, a connection that still exists today, but has expired as the “Strasbourg connection” .

In detail, the connections (with special consideration of their name development) can be represented as follows.

Association-free connections with connections to the SV

Since March 2018, another association based on the principles of the association has been established with the active participation of members of the Sondershäuser Association. The connection is currently free of associations, but aims to be accepted into the SV.

Remarks

  1. The current name or the last name before dissolution / resignation is given
  2. If the preliminary and final admission are known, the latter is given in brackets
  3. Exclusively related to membership in the association. The (further) membership possibilities in ensembles of the respective fractions are not affected. Only given for existing groups (with and without Aktivitas). According to current knowledge, no longer existing fraternities have always accepted only men as members. It is unknown to what extent women also participated in the ensembles of these associations.
  4. Up until 1945 each connection was assigned an individual abbreviation by the association. In 1956, a new system of vehicle license plates was introduced in the Federal Republic of Germany with reference to the place of registration. The SV then switched to changing the abbreviations for the frets to the respective license plates. This was omitted for the unions that were not re-established after 1945. The old abbreviations are i. d. They can usually be recognized by the fact that they contain lowercase letters.
  5. Unless otherwise stated, all connections that still existed in the spring of 1945 were terminated with the entry of Allied troops. A separate presentation for each covenant was therefore dispensed with.
  6. The connection is only effective in Clausthal, but due to the tradition, the original spelling includes a hyphen between the name addition Halle and the location Clausthal .
  7. a b proper spelling
  8. Cf. Gladen, Paulgerhard: "Die deutschsprachigen Korporationsverbände" , p. 405 ff
  9. Cartel associations were associations of active members of the association who were studying at the university. They were listed as independent associations at the universities and led an independent corporate life, often with the aim of establishing a connection with first-time participants on site.
