Hermann Ude (zoologist)

Heinrich Julius Hermann Ude (born August 15, 1860 in Kalefeld ; † November 5, 1941 in Hanover ) was a German zoologist , secondary school and university teacher.

Life

Hermann Ude was born in “Calefeld” in 1860 during the Kingdom of Hanover . After his schooling, he studied in Göttingen at the Georg-August University , where he 1887 Dr. phil. received his doctorate.

In the early days of the German Empire , he worked in Hanover from 1889 until the Weimar Republic in 1925 as a teacher at what was then the secondary school in Hanover . During this time he managed the collections of the Natural History Society of Hanover from 1889 to 1905 . From 1913 to 1931 he was chairman of the company. From 1911 Ude taught parallel to his work as a secondary school teacher at the Hindenburg School in Hanover as a lecturer in zoology at the Hanover University of Veterinary Medicine .

Hermann Ude became known scientifically primarily through his work on oligochaetes .
