Ernst Hans Eberhard , also Ernst Eberhard (born October 25, 1866 in Groß Lukow , † December 18, 1945 in Osterode am Harz ) was a German student historian.

Life

Ernst Hans Eberhard was born the son of the evangelical theologian and pastor of Groß Lukow, (Friedrich Johann Ludwig) Ambrosius Eberhard (1802–1878) in his second marriage to the pastor's daughter Maria (Luise Albertine Dorothea), née. Huth (1842-1917). Five half-siblings from the father's first marriage were up to 36 years older than him.

Eberhard spent his childhood and youth in Groß Lukow near Penzlin and after his father's retirement (1874) in Ludwigslust in West Mecklenburg. He attended the Realgymnasium in Ludwigslust and the Gymnasium Fridericianum in Schwerin , passed his A- levels at Easter 1886 and initially studied philosophy at the University of Rostock . He became active at the Academic Gymnastics Club Baltia. He moved to the Philipps University of Marburg , where he belonged to the ATV Philippina, and to the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin , where he became a member of the ATV Borussia. In 1889 he had to give up his studies. At the judicial authority (Hamburg) he found a job that enabled him to make a living. Close in spirit to the universities, he devoted all free time to the history of student associations and student history . When the University of Hamburg was established, he made contact with the Landsmannschaft Hammonia, initially as a traffic guest , later as an old man . In 1890 he married Auguste Mußmann, with whom he had two daughters and a son. In 1914 he married Henny Witthöft, with whom he had two daughters and three sons. Bombed out in Hamburg-Barmbek by Operation Gomorrah , he lost all his belongings and extensive records. He found refuge with his sister in Ludwigslust. Already dependent on a wheelchair , he died in the refugee camp in Osterode. He was buried in the Ohlsdorf cemetery .

For by Ferdinand Ascherson justified German university calendar and that of Richard Fick published German University calendar he worked for decades the student corporation beings. For the pre-war editions of the German Corps Student Handbook , he wrote the essays on the other corporation associations . In Aura academica - a yearbook for young and old boys (2 years) he reported extensively on the origins and development of student corporations. In the Academic monthly books he wrote an extensive series on studies of color symbolism . For the commemorative publication for the 100th anniversary of the Corps Rhenania Freiburg , he wrote the introduction about the formation of the Corps . His essays on individual questions about the history of the Kosen Seniors Convent Association and other corporation associations are countless .
