Georg Green

Georg Grün is a German choir conductor and music teacher .

Grün studied church and school music, conducting, Catholic theology and musicology at the Saar University of Music and the Saarland University as well as organ improvisation with Jean-Pierre Leguay in Paris. From 1991 to 2000 he taught theology and music as a high school teacher. Until 2012 he was professor of conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim . With the large choir, the symphony orchestra of the university and the Palatinate Chamber Orchestra , he regularly performed choral symphonic and oratorical works. As part of the ERASMUS exchange program of the European Union, he has taught regularly at the Conservatorio di Musica Giuseppe Tartini in Trieste since 2006 and taught several times in 2010 at the Royal College of Music Stockholm. 2010 he took over the workshop for choir conductors as part of the Conductors' Forum of the German Music Council . He gave master classes in Spain, Italy, France, Lithuania, Sweden, Slovenia and Finland and in 2012 became professor of choral conducting at the Saar University of Music.

In 1991, after completing his studies, Grün founded the Saarbrücken Chamber Choir , with which he won numerous choir competitions and published more than a dozen CDs, among others with Carus-Verlag and Hänssler Classic . In 2007 he received the Midem Classical Award Cannes for the recording of Michael Haydn's Requiem in B flat major . As a guest conductor he has appeared with the SWR Vocal Ensemble , the Rias Chamber Choir , the Coro Nacional de Jóvenes in Argentina, the World Youth Choir , the Croatian Radio Choir in Zagreb and the Lower Saxony State Youth Choir . He worked with the Saarbrücken Radio Symphony Orchestra , the Rhineland-Palatinate State Philharmonic , the Mannheim Chamber Philharmonic , Le Concert Lorrain and soloists such as Carolyn Sampson , Hans Peter Blochwitz and Christian Gerhaher , and in 2010 he gave concerts with the German Radio Philharmonic, Sibylla Rubens , Ingeborg Danz and Christoph Prégardien and Yorck Felix Speer . He is also a member of the Daarler Vocal Consort and, together with Christian von Blohn, has led the choir community on the Saar since 2013 .
