Jean-Pierre Leguay
Jean-Pierre Leguay (born July 4, 1939 in Dijon ) is a French composer and organist .
Life
Leguay studied with André Marchal , Gaston Litaize , then at the Conservatoire de Paris with Simone Plé-Caussade , Rolande Falcinelli (organ) and Olivier Messiaen ( composition ). From 1961 to 1984 he was titular organist at the Notre-Dame-des-Champs church in Paris. From 1968 to 1989 he taught organ and organ improvisation as well as music history at the Limoges Conservatory.
In 1985, together with Yves Devernay , Olivier Latry and Philippe Lefebvre, he became titular organist of the Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral , succeeding Pierre Cochereau . He held this office until 2016, and was succeeded by Vincent Dubois .
In 1989 he received a professorship for organ and improvisation at the Regional Conservatory (CRR) Dijon, where he worked until 2003. He won prizes at improvisation competitions in Lyon and Haarlem, among others.
