Friederike Woebcken

Friederike Woebcken (* 1954 in Bonn ) is a German musicologist , university teacher and choir director .

Life

Friederike Woebcken studied English and school music from 1973 to 1979 in Freiburg and Glasgow . After the first state examination, she went to Stockholm, where she completed a postgraduate course in choral conducting with Eric Ericson . From 1983 she taught at the Ricarda Huch School in Kiel , where she established and directed five school choirs. After Woebcken joined the Institute for Music Education at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel in 1993 as a lecturer for choral conducting and composition theory , where she founded two other choirs, she was appointed professor for choral conducting at the Bremen University of the Arts and the University of Bremen in 1998 . There she founded the Great University Choir and also directs the Chamber Choir.

In 2002 she was awarded the culture prize of the city of Kiel for “her diverse work and great commitment in the field of choral music” .
