Christine Stadler
Christine Stadler (* 1922 in Eggstätt ; † 2001 ) was a sculptor and ceramicist .
Life
Christine Stadler spent her youth and school days in Eggstädt. From 1946 to 1948 she attended the Prien art school , after which she trained as a sculptor in Munich . From 1950 to 1956 she completed her artistic training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and finally became a master student of Anton Hiller . Christine Stadler was a member of the jury and board of directors of the German Society for Christian Art and a member of the committee of the International Society for Christian Artists. She died in 2001 and was buried in Eggstätt.
Works
Many church furnishings and works of art in public spaces were created by Christine Stadler. The walls of the Munich subway stations Bonner Platz and Petuelring are decorated with concrete reliefs of her. In Munich she also created two memorials for the Scholl siblings : one from 1962 is in front of the student dormitory on Steinickeweg, the other by the building of the Catholic Academy of Bavaria on Mandlstrasse . Joseph Ratzinger, later Pope Benedict XVI. acquired two sculptures by the artist for the garden of his house in Pentling ; Copies were made in the garden of Pope Benedict XVI's house, which had been rededicated as a meeting place . set up.
