Rainder Steenblock

Rainder Steenblock (born February 29, 1948 in Leer in East Frisia ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). From 1996 to 2000 he was Minister for the Environment, Nature and Forests of Schleswig-Holstein .

Life and work

After high school in 1968 at the High School Ulricianum in Aurich graduated Steenblock a degree in psychology , pedagogy and political science at the University of Hamburg , as which he 1974 Diploma - Psychologist ended. He then completed a legal clerkship and passed the second state examination as a trade teacher in 1976 . He then worked as a senior teacher at the vocational school for child care in Hamburg .

politics

From 1970 to 1976 Steenblock was a member of the SPD . He has been a member of the Greens since 1983, for which he initially worked as managing director of the Pinneberg district association and from 1992 to 1994 as state board spokesman in Schleswig-Holstein . For the Greens, Steenblock was elected to the German Bundestag in the Bundestag election in 1994 , but left on June 1, 1996 to move to the Schleswig-Holstein state government, where he was Minister for Environment, Nature and Forests until 2000. He was also Deputy Prime Minister in the state government of Schleswig-Holstein led by Heide Simonis . From 2000 to 2002 he was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament .

After the federal election in 2002 , Steenblock was again a member of the German Bundestag . In October 2002 he became the European policy spokesman for the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen parliamentary group . Until he left the German Bundestag after the 2009 Bundestag election, Steenblock always entered the Bundestag via the Schleswig-Holstein state list .

Volunteering

Steenblock was a member of the Presidium of the Europa-Union Deutschland from 2007 to 2009 and represents the Bündnis90 / Die Grünen party on the board of the European Movement Germany network and on the “Europe / Transatlantic” advisory board of the Heinrich Böll Foundation .
