Heike Polzin (born December 27, 1955 in Wismar ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1998 to 2016 she was a member of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and from October 6, 2008 to November 1, 2016 the state's finance minister .

Life

After graduating from high school, Polzin studied at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald and graduated as a certified teacher for German and art education. Since 1978 she worked as a teacher in Warin and later also became deputy headmaster. On October 26, 1998, she was elected to the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania for the SPD, to which she has been a member since then. From 2001 to 2007 she was district chairwoman of the SPD in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg . From 2002 to 2008 she was deputy chairwoman of the SPD parliamentary group and spokeswoman for the SPD parliamentary group for education policy. Since October 6, 2008, she has been Minister of Finance for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

In the state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2006 , she entered the state parliament through a direct mandate in the state electoral district of Northwest Mecklenburg I. In 2011 she was able to defend her direct mandate. In the election in 2016 it has not raced for more. Mathias Brodkorb followed her on November 1, 2016 at the Ministry of Finance .

Polzin is non-denominational, married and has two children.
