In December 2009, he publicly attacked the CDU, in particular Berndt Seite , because of their " turning necks " from the time as a bloc party . At the age of only 53, he was put into provisional retirement in 2011 by Prime Minister Erwin Sellering (SPD). He was no longer assigned any new paid job.
