Angelika Peters
Angelika Peters (born April 1, 1946 in Silberberg ( Western Pomerania ), today to Drawno ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1994 to 1998 and from 2001 to 2011 she was a member of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . From October 25, 2011 to October 22, 2013, she was State Secretary for Federal Affairs and Commissioner in the Representation of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania at the federal level . At the age of 65, she succeeded the retired Thomas Freund .
Angelika Peters grew up on the island of Rügen . She trained as a physiotherapist in Rostock and worked as a daycare teacher. From 1992 to 1994, Peters worked in the constituency of Ulrich Janzen, then SPD member of the Bundestag .
In 1991 she joined the SPD. She is a member of the local SPD association in Bergen auf Rügen and chaired the finance committee in the city council . She was elected to the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 1994, but failed to be re-elected in 1998. In 2001 she moved back into Schwerin Castle as a successor on the state list. In the state elections in 2006 she kept her seat. She was deputy chairwoman of the SPD parliamentary group and its spokesperson for consumer, animal protection and allotment garden policy and was a deputy chairwoman of the Petitions Committee and the European and Legal Affairs Committee. She did not run for the 2011 state election.
