Gabriele Wurzel

Gabriele Wurzel (born September 17, 1948 in Offenbach am Main ) is a German lawyer , administrative officer and politician ( CDU ).

Life

Gabriele Wurzel was born as the daughter of a classical philologist. After graduating from high school in Wiesbaden in 1967 , she began studying law at the universities of Mainz and Würzburg , which she completed in 1972 with the first state examination in law. During her studies she did a three-month internship at the European Parliament . In 1975, she was at the University of Würzburg Dr. jur. PhD (Dissertation: Municipal Council as Parliament ?: A comparative legal study on the representation of the people in the municipal and state areas ). A year later she passed the second state examination in law. She began her civil service career in 1976 in the Bavarian State Ministry of Justice and was later seconded to the Bavarian State Chancellery . In the further course she worked as a lawyer in Wiesbaden, in the office of the director of the Federal Council and in the representation of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate at the federal government .

In the period that followed, Wurzel held the post of State Secretary in various federal states . From 1990 to 1991 she was State Secretary in the Ministry of the Interior of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate , from 1992 to 1994 State Secretary and Head of the State Chancellery of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and from 1994 to 1998 State Secretary for Federal Affairs and Agent for the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania at the federal government in Bonn. From 1998 to 2003 she worked as an independent lawyer in Bonn . From 2003 to 2006 she was State Secretary and Head of the State Chancellery of Lower Saxony and from 2006 to 2007 State Secretary in the Ministry of the Interior and Sport of Lower Saxony.

Wurzel has been practicing as a lawyer in a law firm in Cologne since 2008 .
