Christine Hawighorst

Christine Hawighorst (born December 27, 1963 in Delmenhorst ) is a German political officer .

From December 2005 to April 2010 she was State Secretary of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Social Affairs, Women, Family and Health , from April 2010 to July 2010 State Secretary of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Culture and from July 2010 to February 2013 Head of the Lower Saxony State Chancellery .

Life

After studying law at the University of Osnabrück and completing her legal clerkship , she first worked for the Weser-Ems district government , then for the city of Lingen (Ems) and finally as a district councilor for the Emsland district . She completed a second degree while working and received her doctorate in 2002 with a psychological thesis on crime prevention .

From December 2005 to April 2010 she was State Secretary of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Social Affairs under Minister Mechthild Ross-Luttmann . The Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung described her as one of the few ministerial personalities of the Lower Saxony CDU in the second row behind the incumbent ministers; The Hanoverian Neue Presse also named her after the state elections in 2008 as a possible candidate for the office of Justice Minister.

On April 27, 2010, Hawighorst moved to the Ministry of Education, where Bernd Althusmann , who had previously been State Secretary, was appointed Minister of Education as part of a cabinet reshuffle.

In July 2010 she changed the department again; she became head of the State Chancellery under the new Prime Minister David McAllister . As part of this task, she represented the state of Lower Saxony on the ZDF television council . After the state elections in Lower Saxony in 2013 and the change of government, she was replaced by Jörg Mielke on February 19, 2013 .

Christine Hawighorst has been the authorized signatory and press spokesperson for the Cewe Foundation & Co. KGaA since 2014 .
