Udo Michallik

Udo Michallik (born May 18, 1968 in Waren (Müritz) ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and General Secretary of the Conference of Ministers of Education .

After graduating from the ten-class polytechnic high school in Waren (Müritz), he graduated as a machine and system fitter with a high school diploma in 1987. From 1989 to 1995 Michallik studied history, political science, sociology and German studies, with a master's degree.

After completing his studies, Michallik was a research associate in the CDU parliamentary group in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, with the department of education, science and culture. From 2003 to 2006 he also headed the scientific service of the parliamentary group. From 2006 to 2011 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture under Minister Henry Tesch .

Furthermore, he is chairman of the supervisory board of the Greifswald University Hospital and the Rostock University Hospital , as well as chairman of the supervisory board of the Historisch-Technischen Museum Peenemünde GmbH and chairman of the board of directors of the German Maritime Museum Stralsund . He is also a member of the board of trustees of the Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and chairman of the advisory board for the documentation center for the victims of dictatorships in Germany.

On March 10, 2011, the Conference of Ministers of Education elected him as the new Secretary General with effect from October 1, 2011.

Michallik is married and has two children.
