Uta-Maria Kuder (born November 12, 1957 in Düsseldorf ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 2006 to 2016 she was Minister of Justice in the state government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1982, Kuder studied law in Cologne from 1983 to 1990 . She completed her legal clerkship in the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court and passed her second state examination in 1993. In 1994 she was a clerk at the Düsseldorf employment office before she was employed as a legal assistant at the Greifswald legal office in the same year . From 1995 to 1999 she headed the legal office. Then she was head of the Greifswald Office for Economics and Finance until 2003.

From 2003 to 2006 she held the office of Second Deputy Mayor and Senator for Youth, Culture and Social Affairs in Greifswald. In 2006 she became First Deputy Mayor and Senator for Youth, Culture, Social Affairs and Order.

Kuder has been a member of the CDU since 2002. In 2005 she was elected to the state executive committee of the CDU Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . Since November 17, 2007, Kuder has been deputy state chairwoman of the CDU Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Since November 7, 2006, she has been Minister of Justice in the state government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Her predecessor in office was the former Prime Minister Erwin Sellering . She has represented her country in the Committee of the Regions of the European Union since 2010 . With the formation of the state government on November 1, 2016, she left the cabinet. Her successor is Katy Hoffmeister .

In the district elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in September 2011, Kuder ran for the post of district administrator in the new Greater Vorpommern-Greifswald district . However, she lost 40.5% of the votes cast in a runoff election by her competitor from the Left Party, Barbara Syrbe .

Uta-Maria Kuder is a Roman Catholic, married and has one child.
